Davis Ford Road Citizens
This is a test
The Davis Ford Road Citizens for a Better Quality of Life is a group of citizens who live off the Davis Ford Road corridor and are concerned with the new proposed middle school that will be located at XXXX Davis Ford Road. While the citizens agree that a new middle school is needed for the Middle County Area, they believe that this is not the best location to build a Middle School. The citizens belive that there are better alternate locations for a Middle School.

Please read the letter from Mary K. Hill in the Potomac News on 11/7 section A6. Apparently there is a lot more to the story of this tract of land. Hopefully she will be willing to tell that story here.
Thank you for mentioning the article. I have looked it up and will post it on the site tonight.

I recently send an email to Ms. Hanna
Good Day Ms Hannan,
Mr Gonzales should have copied to you some of my emails to him. If not I’d be glad to forward them to you.
So here I am at your doorstep. I now have several questions for you regarding the matter of this hearing. It seems that this hearing is being held very close to the Christmas holiday’s which means that far fewer people are likely to attend. In the interest of providing public input on this matter I would request that this hearing date be changed to either on 12/7/05 or later on 1/18/06. Since this matter does not appear on the 12/21/05 agenda (on the web site) it would appear that there is some latitude for scheduling? Is there some procedural reason that this hearing can’t be scheduled for another date? If so why?
I am surprised that the subject of the middle school does not appear on the county school website (http://www.pwcs.edu/Construction/). Does it appear some place that I’m not looking. I’m trying to educate myself on this matter and am having very little success. It also doesn’t appear on the agenda of the Planning Commission on the county web site. For an issue of some importance I’m not seeing much on the web sites.
It’s not that I’m against the school it’s the manner in which it is coming to life. There seems to be no planning at all. At the Nohe meeting I asked if this was a target of opportunity. I was told that it pretty much was. Cheap land became available so a school was soon to follow. Good planning well that remains to be seen. Knee jerk reaction to a opportunity? Perhaps. I hope you’ll be able to explain this process to me.
Right now I’m hoping that this hearing can be rescheduled to allow the level of public participation that a project of this scope warrants.
Thanks for your help.

But have yet to get a reply. The Planning Board cannot change the hearing date, But I believe that the School Board can. The current day is too close to the holidays, It really needs to be pushed back!
I sent this email to Mary K. Hill the other day
Good Day Mary K.
Thanks for your letter to the Potomac News. The issue of the proposed school has some folks up in arms. I'm against any more traffic in the area. I'm sure that the emails are flowing in to you about the history. In the next couple of days there will be a new web site available that is going to address some of the issues surrounding the proposed school. I hope that you will be a frequent visitor to the site and will post your concerns there. The site is being developed as an information source for the general public to educate themselves on the issues that impact the Davis Ford Road Corridor. The site is www.davisfordcorridor.com it should be up and running in a couple of days. So if you would please start working on the history of the site and we'll be glad to post it.
Thanks again
Butch Cronin
I have not yet heard back from Mary K. Hill but do hope that she will post her info here
I have yet to get a response from Ms Hanna, she had been out of the office. I was told that someone would however be responding to her emails. Oh well lets see if we can get a response on the second email
Good Day Ms Hanna,
I recently, Nov 1, sent you an email regarding the up coming Planning Commission hearing on the Public Facility Review of the proposed middle school to be located at 5901 Davis Ford Road. Unfortunately this PFR is scheduled for Dec. 21, hearing date at http://www.pwcgov.org/docLibrary/PDF/003557.pdf. It is my understanding that this will be the only time for public comment on this issue. Dec 21 is very close to the Christmas Holiday. I’m sure that you realize that many families will use the 21st as a travel day and far fewer people will attend the PFR.
In the interest of providing maximum public input on this issue I would request that the School Board request that the Planning Commission move the review to the Jan 18, a date that now only has one item on the agenda. The Jan 18 date would allow for extensive public input on an issue that will have an impact on many. It should be noted that when I sent you the first email the school review had not be added to the planning commission’s agenda.
Is there any administrative issue that will not allow the hearing to be rescheduled for the Jan 18 date? If you are unable to answer this question please direct this correspondence to someone who can.
Did you not receive my first email?
Thanks you for your time!
Sincerely
Earl Cronin

On 17 Nov I addressed the Fairfax Water Authority. They were not aware of the PWCS District desire to place a middle school on Davis Ford Road. I was able to show them the current plans and address the potential impact the school might have on their water supply. The presentation was well received and Mr. Daly the Chairman indicated that Fairfax would take two actions 1) contact the Planning Commission/School District and request additional information and 2)have the Fairfax Water Quality staff examine the potential impact.
Hi Davis, This is a good article site.

Good luck, Davis
Good day - I am a resident in Cannon Bluff, and I am trying to learn more about the isssues in my community, to include the BOCS meetings that someone keeps posting signs about on DFR and sometimes on Hoadly Road. These signs request the presence of local residents at BOCS meetings. They give the date, time, and place. But there are no talking points distributed, nor is anyone there to organize the citizens who are answering the call. If this civic group is involved in the posting of these signs, it would be helpful if you could provide more details. This evening I attending the BOCS meeting regarding the issue about the "Villages on the Parkway" and it was postponed indefinately. I asked someone else who was at the meeting if they knew who was coordinating things for the DFR residents, and they looked at me like I was crazy. Please, identify yourself and allow those of us who come to the meetings in response to your call to help you help our community. Thanks
